OVEN: Preheat oven to 160°C (Gas Mark 5). Remove any outer packaging, place the tray in the oven and bake for 30-35 mins at 160°C until piping hot and golden brown.

OVEN: Preheat oven to 160°C (Gas Mark 5). Remove any outer packaging, place the tray in the oven and bake for 55-60 mins at 160°C until piping hot and golden brown.

Lidgates Butchers

Lidgates Butchers has been in operation since 1850 and our family have always sold pies in the shop. We use recipes that have been passed down over the decades, refining them here and there as tastes have changed but our core principles have always remained the same: the best quality ingredients treated with care and attention will produce excellent pies.

Brilliant

Amazing flavour, great portion size, came in a oven-safe container making cooking as recommended very simple.

Ye olde- soggy bottom

Really liked this last time, it was a lovely mix of tender chicken and big think slices of red pepper, this time the recipe seemed to have changed, there were only a few small pieces of pepper, the spicing seemed to have overboard this time, and drowned out the taste of the chicken and the peppers, and there seemed to be some sort of tiny round legumes added, that I didn't remember from the last time we ordered this. Also how do you get around that if you go for cooking oven from chilled as advised, the frozen product has to emit liquid to reach that state and you therefore end up with (or at least we did) the curse of the Great British Bake-off - - ye olde soggy bottom.

Wanted to add to my review that...

the little pastry chicken on the pie was a wonderful whimsical little touch. I loved it!

Tasty

Another tasty pie from Lidgates.
I am a big fan of the chicken and asparagus pie but I wanted to try this one out.
I wasn't disappointed, lovely chicken, lots of filling, the pastry is is just beautiful.
Nice big sized pie which I'm very happy about.
Peppery taste with some spice but isn't hot, just very good.

This was a most delicious pie. The pastry is lovely and crisp and the filling was plentiful. I really liked the spicy chicken. It was a mild spice but made the chicken really flavourful. Would definitely order again
